As a child I painted or modelled in plasticine the world I loved - nature and people.

As a teenager admiring Leonardo da Vinci and influenced by Picasso I explored colour relationships with these subjects using linear rhythm. It was an intensely spiritual time for me, intensely aware time, as I feel it is generally for teenagers.

Studying classical technique in my twenties, brought together the elements I love - realism, expressionism, movement and design. I pursued this over the years, and graduated in 1989 from the Queensland College of Art with a Bachelor of Arts (Graphic Design) degree.

After practising in my field for many years I became increasingly interested in art therapy, culminating by graduating in 2010 with a Masters of Mental Health (Art Therapy), University of Queensland. I'm a current Full Professional Member - Arts Therapist Registered (AthR) of the Australian and New Zealand Arts Therapy Association (ANZATA).

Moving in 2010 from Brisbane to Lismore on the north coast of New South Wales, I became active in the local arts therapy community and was President of the Northern Rivers Arts, Health and Wellbeing (NRAHW) group from 2013 to 2015. Since then I've been presenting art therapy workshops for Mission Australia and GROW (a mental health support group), art appreciation classes at the University of the Third Age (U3A), and doing my own fine art work including entering the Archibald Prize in 2015 and 2017.
